Report: Robert's Mountain Complex, Oct 2023
Starting around October 22, 2023, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) intends to conduct a wild horse roundup in the Roberts Mountain Complex area of Eureka County, Nevada. This area is located about 20 miles northwest of Eureka, west of State Highway 278, and north of U.S. Highway 50. The Roberts Mountain Complex covers approximately 556,500 acres of both public and private lands. The designated Appropriate Management Level for wild horses in this area is between 110 and 184 – or 1 horse for every 3,000+ acres.

2023 Devil’s Garden Roundup Ends: 236 Wild Horses Lose Their Home
On Wednesday, October 11 th , the United States Forest Service’s (USFS) roundup and removal of the Devil’s Garden wild horses in the Modoc National Forest (MNF) ended – the seventh in eight years. Although the USFS was targeting 500 horses on the Devil’s Garden Wild Horse Territory (Territory), this year the agency fell far short and removed less than half of its original goal via helicopter and bait trapping.

Roundup Report: Moriah Herd Area, Oct 2023
On October 17, 2023, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will begin a roundup and removal of more than 400 wild horses from the Moriah Herd Area, 48 miles north of Ely, Nevada. Notorious helicopter contractor Cattoor Livestock will be conducting the operation.

The roundup has concluded with 440 wild horses removed, 2 deaths.

Virtual Meeting Reaffirms NPS’s Commitment to Eliminate Theodore Roosevelt Wild Horses

(October 18, 2023) On Tuesday, October 10th, the National Park Services (NPS) held a virtual meeting on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Livestock Plan for the Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP/Park). During the presentation, TRNP staff made clear its plan to remove the historic wild horse herd from the Park, named after America’s first conservation president Theodore Roosevelt.
The Theodore Roosevelt Wild Horses Need Your to Speak Up for Them
The National Park Service (NPS) is currently seeking public input on the Draft Environmental Assessment for a Livestock Plan for the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP). Unfortunately, the plan is on track to eliminate North Dakota's only wild horse herd.
The TRNP's approximately 195 horses are managed by a 1978 Environmental Assessment. While a new management plan is necessary, the EA is unacceptable as it proposes three alternatives that would lead to the destruction of the Theodore Roosevelt wild horses.

The Devil’s Garden Wild Horse Territory is home to California’s largest wild horse herd. It is made up of 258,000 acres outside of Alturas, California. These mustangs fall under the management of the U.S. Forest Service, not the Bureau of Land Management.
New Plan Threatens Future of the Theodore Roosevelt Wild Horses
(September 29, 2023) This week the National Park Service (NPS) released the much-awaited Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for a livestock management plan for the wild horses and longhorn cattle in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP).
The 93-page document will “assess the potential impacts of continuing current livestock management (No Action Alternative) and implementing one of the action alternatives that would remove livestock from Theodore Roosevelt National Park.”
