Informing the public.

Only by harnessing the power of the people can we defeat the powerful special interests that want our wild horses eliminated from our public lands.

We are not just raising awareness. We're mobilizing public support to protect wild horses and burros and change current unsustainable and inhumane government management policies. That's why we work hard to provide the public with the expert knowledge and tools needed to defend our mustangs and the public lands they live on.

With the power of information, we lead grassroots campaigns to help the public raise its collective voice.

Face-to-face community outreach. Social media organization. Media relations.

By the numbers:

  • Our social media presence is 700,000 strong and has grown by nearly 100,000 supporters a year.
  • As a leading source for the media on wild horse issues, AWHC was quoted in national and local news stories an average of 8 times per month in 2018.
  • Through our advocacy work, we collected over 500,000 petition signatures and our supporters submitted over 100,000 public comments via our online platform.
  • We organize high profile rallies and press events in key western states. In 2019, our events in California, Nevada and Utah were attended by hundreds of advocates.

We have showcased our work by exhibiting at equine, wildlife and environmental festivals and conferences throughout the country.
