Who We Are: CommitTED to Wild Horse Conservation

AWHC exists because our wild horses and burros deserve to roam free. They are symbols of freedom, heritage, and the untamed spirit of the American West. As a nation, we stand up for these majestic creatures by promoting science based conservation to ensure their protection and preservation.

What We Do

Keeping America’s Promise to Wild Horses and Burros

Discover the critical issues endangering America's wild horses, from inhumane treatment to financial burdens.

Our Vision

We have built a nationwide network of advocates, volunteer ambassadors and rescue organizations to amplify support for wild horse and burro conservation. Our impactful media campaigns – including billboards in New York City's Times Square and Washington DC’s National Mall – engage new supporters and influencers, building a passionate community dedicated to safeguarding these majestic animals.

Our Work

Dedicated to protecting America's wild horses and burros, our programs focus on policy reform, conservation efforts, and community advocacy to ensure these iconic animals thrive on public lands.

Policy

Igniting Wild Horse & Burro Policy

We advocate for legislation in Washington DC to improve federal wild horse policy and to increase transparency. Our legal and investigations team protects wild horses and burros in the courts and exposes noncompliance with federal law and Congressional mandates.

Conservation

Setting the Conservation Standard

AWHC is revolutionizing wild horse conservation across the American West. We are expanding land conservation projects in places like Fish Springs, Nevada, and improving protection standards. Nevada’s Virginia Range is home to the world’s leading wild horse fertility control program. These successes are influencing Congress to redirect funds away from helicopter roundups and towards humane conservation solutions.
