Learn more about Kamma Mountains HMA (Nevada)

The Kamma Mountains Herd Management Area (HMA) is located within the Blue Wing Complex in Nevada, approximately 50 miles southwest of Winnemucca. This HMA encompasses around 17,913 acres of unfenced public lands characterized by diverse terrain, including north-south trending mountains and broad valleys. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has set the Appropriate Management Levels (AML) for the entire Blue Wing Complex at 333 to 553 wild horses and 55 to 90 wild burros. The Kamma Mountains HMA plays a crucial role in the conservation of wild horse populations, ensuring their protection and management in their natural habitat. AWHC advocates for humane management practices to maintain the ecological balance and preserve these iconic animals.
