Learn more about “Conservation Strategies”
Conservation strategies at American Wild Horse Conservation (AWHC) focus on humane, in-the-wild protection of wild horses and burros. Our approach emphasizes proven fertility control methods, habitat stewardship, and the protection of natural predators to maintain ecological balance. By implementing the world's largest fertility control program on Nevada's Virginia Range, we demonstrate effective management of wild horse populations without resorting to harmful roundups. Additionally, our Land Trust initiative aims to secure and enhance habitats, ensuring that these iconic animals can thrive in their natural environments. Through collaboration and innovative practices, we strive to set new standards for wild horse conservation.
