Red Rock Herd Management Area (HMA)

The Red Rock Herd Management Area is a vast 220,000-acre region that hosts both wild horses and burros. These animals are living symbols of the Western spirit, embodying the untamed beauty of the American landscape.

How to Get There

The Red Rock HMA is located in southern Nevada, approximately 20 miles west of Las Vegas. Visitors often find it easier to spot the burros in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, as they frequently gather near Bonnie Springs, Spring Mountain Ranch, and the town of Blue Diamond along State Route 159.

About the Burros

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) does not have an exact count of how many burros currently reside in this HMA.
