Deer Run Wild Horse Preservation Group Advocates at Nevada Legislature
A local citizen's group, the Deer Run Wild Horse Preservation Group, urged locals to support the return of a beloved herd of wild horses. Approximately 50 Carson City residents gathered outside the Nevada Legislature for a rally to raise community awareness about the horses' situation.
Coordinator Annie Jantzen stated, "Even the Humane Society in Washington, DC is calling for the BLM to put these horses back on the range where they belong and work with the community on solutions." The Humane Society of the United States issued a press release denouncing the BLM for failing to collaborate with the community, which has offered numerous alternatives, including self-funded fencing and birth control. Jantzen emphasized, "It's never too late to do the right thing, and that's what we are calling on the BLM to do now." The group has the support of city officials and Senator Mark Manendo, who stood with them during the rally.
