Court Seeks Transfer of ISPMB HorsesCourt Seeks Transfer of ISPMB Horses

The South Dakota Animal Industry Board, at the request of Dewey and Ziebach counties, is seeking a court order to transfer ownership of horses from the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros (ISPMB) to two organizations: Fleet of Angels of Evans, CO, and Habitat for Horses of Hitchcock, TX. This move aims to ensure the welfare and proper care of the horses.

During a public meeting held via teleconference on December 12, the Animal Industry Board (AIB) unanimously voted to file a motion in court for the transfer of ownership. This decision underscores the urgency and importance of finding suitable homes for the horses.

A hearing on this motion is scheduled for Friday, January 27, in the Fourth Circuit Court in Dupree, presided over by Judge Michael Day. The outcome of this hearing will determine the future care and management of the ISPMB horses.
