Colorado Nature Photographer & Communications Leader Scott Wilson Joins American Wild Horse Conservation Board of Directors

Denver, Colorado (October 22, 2021): The American Wild Horse Conservation (formerly American Wild Horse Campaign) announced today the appointment of Scott Wilson, of WilsonAxpe Photography, to its board of directors.

Wilson is a Denver-based landscape and wildlife photographer and former corporate affairs executive for Molson Coors who became involved in wild horse advocacy through his photography of the iconic Sand Wash Basin wild mustangs in north-western Colorado.

“It’s my great pleasure to welcome Scott Wilson to the American Wild Horse Conservation board of directors,” said Ellie Phipps Price, Colorado native and AWHC president. “Scott brings a fresh perspective and an invigorating passion to our board, along with extensive expertise in communications, public affairs and strategic planning, and we look forward to his contributions towards the protection and preservation of America’s iconic wild horses and burros.”

Wilson served as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Molson Coors, both in Europe and globally, where he led international teams across corporate responsibility, government relations, brand-building and external and internal communications functions. In that capacity, he co-led The UK Alcohol Responsibility Deal, which brought government, alcohol producers and health advocates together to tackle problem drinking, an effort that succeeded in taking one billion harmful units of alcohol out of the UK market.

As a stage 4 cancer survivor, Wilson also launched and led the legislative and advocacy effort in Colorado to reduce the screening age for colorectal cancer from 50 to 45. Wilson is a former member of regional, national and international boards including Visit Denver, the British Beer and Pub Association, The Colorectal Cancer Alliance and IARD (International Alliance for Responsible Drinking). His award-winning photography is on display at Gallery 6, Denver, where he is a partner. In 2017, he was voted Denver’s Best Instagrammer.

“Wildlife photography was the door through which I discovered and committed to the cause of America’s wild mustangs,” says Wilson, who was heavily involved in the recent high profile advocacy campaign against the Sand Wash Basin roundup, which resulted in an early end to the capture operation and an additional 155 wild horses remaining free. “I look forward to applying my communications, advocacy and leadership experience to support the important work of the American Wild Horse Conservation. It’s a real privilege to provide a voice for the voiceless, our wild horses, an American national treasure.”
