Calico Mountains Complex Roundup: A Historical Overview
In late 2009, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) conducted one of the deadliest roundups in history at the Calico Mountains Complex in northwest Nevada. This roundup resulted in the capture of 1,922 horses, with 86 dying either directly from the helicopter stampede or during transport to the holding facility. This event marked a significant moment in the history of wild horse conservation.
Reports from the First Roundup
