Pre-Roundup Report: 2024 Twin Peaks Wild Horse Range

Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employees first guided American Wild Horse Conservation (AWHC) observers to the 2022 trap site, where an observer noted the absence of burros. They then visited the release site of 24 burros from the 2022 roundup, but only two BLM jacks (male donkeys) were spotted, with no mules present.

Wild horses in the Herd Management Area (HMA) were found in small bands scattered across a few locations, while cattle were abundant. An AWHC observer remarked that the range appeared healthier—with plentiful natural vegetation and wildlife—in areas where cattle were not grazing.
