Wild Horse Statistics: October 2012 to September 2013
American Wild Horse Conservation (formerly American Wild Horse Campaign) presents the statistics on wild horse roundups and adoptions from October 2012 to September 2013. This report provides insights into the number of horses removed from the range, adopted, and those in holding facilities during this period.
Completed Roundups from October 1, 2012 - September 30, 2013:
3,815 horses were removed from the range.
Adoptions of Wild Horses from October 1, 2012 - September 20, 2013:
1,942 horses have been adopted this fiscal year.
Holding Statistics
In February 2013, there were 50,717 horses in holding (33,664 in Long Term Holding & 17,053 in Short Term Holding).
As of August 2013, there are 49,021 horses in holding (33,878 in Long Term Holding & 15,143 in Short Term Holding).
The holding capacity as of August 2013 is 5,113 horses in Short Term and Long Term Holding.
