Wild Horse Management: Perspectives from the Outside

Long live wild horses. This is the essence of the American Wild Horse Conservation (formerly American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign), which advocates for keeping horses alive and free, preventing their slaughter in the American West.

However, wild horse populations grow relatively quickly, prompting federal managers to explore options for controlling herd numbers. The American Wild Horse Conservation opposes slaughter and the captivity of horses, particularly when the removal of animals from the range seems to favor private cattle herds.
