Tulip and Cholla: A Reason to Give

Help Protect Arizona's Wild Burros: Tulip and ChollaHelp Protect Arizona's Wild Burros: Tulip and Cholla

Meet Tulip and Cholla, two wild Arizona burros. Far from being “beasts of burden,” this mother and baby pair live life free and untamed in the Sonoran desert, where their ancestors have thrived for over a century and a half.

Burros are not only seriously cute but also historic. They are natural treasures for Arizona, the state with the largest and healthiest wild burro populations in the country.

However, not everyone shares this view.

Special interest forces are lining up against the state’s federally-protected wild burros. One high-ranking state official expressed a desire to shoot burros, considering them “pests.” A Mojave County Supervisor even suggested opening a hunting season on these innocent and peaceful animals!

We’re fighting for Arizona burros with all we’ve got, and we are gaining political allies. This year, the eminent U.S. Senator from Arizona, John McCain, even sent a letter in support of humane management of Arizona burros with birth control.

But danger lurks. In 2017, Congress will consider budget language that would allow the BLM to capture and turn over wild burros to the very state and local officials who want to kill them. As long as the burros were killed for “non-commercial” purposes, it would be totally legal.

We can’t let this happen and we won’t … with your help.

Tulip and Cholla are reasons to give.

Remember, all end-of-year donations made by midnight on December 31st will be matched, so please double your impact today!
