Temporary Restraining Order Issued to Protect New Mexico Wild Horses

Judge Issues Order to Protect New Mexico Wild HorsesJudge Issues Order to Protect New Mexico Wild Horses

Great news: A New Mexico judge has issued a temporary restraining order to stop the New Mexico Agriculture Department from selling a beloved group of wild horses from Alto, NM, for slaughter. Congratulations to the Wild Horse Observers Association (WHOA), a member of the American Wild Horse Conservation (formerly American Wild Horse Campaign) Coalition, for this legal victory.

Previously, WHOA won a precedent-setting appellate court legal victory finding that the wild horses of Placitas, NM, were "wild horses" and not livestock, and that "livestock" does not include undomesticated, unowned animals.
