Saving America's Mustangs: A Call to Action
An American icon is in peril. The wild mustangs that roam the American West are being rounded up by helicopters and forced into government holding facilities. Currently, about 50,000 wild horses and burros are broiling in government pens and pastures.
Critics argue that these animals are not being properly cared for during extreme weather conditions, with temperatures soaring over 100 degrees in some areas. A facility near Reno, Nevada, has been criticized for not providing adequate shelter in the sweltering heat. In response, the Bureau of Land Management stated they have recently installed sprinklers at this facility and have a veterinarian visiting regularly.
