Save Wild Horses in 2018: Essential Tips and Actions
Your voice in 2018 can mean the difference between a life of freedom and brutal death for tens of thousands of America's wild horses and burros. Here's what you need to do!
1. Call Your Elected Officials
Let Congress know that you oppose the mass roundup and slaughter of America’s wild horses and burros. Urge them to support humane treatment and protection of these animals on our public lands. Call the Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121.
2. Meet with Your Congressperson and Senators
Schedule an appointment to discuss this issue with them in their district office closest to you. Do not be intimidated—the best lobbyists for wild horses are constituents who take the time to meet with their representatives in Congress.
3. Utilize Social Media
President Trump communicates through Twitter, so tweet him a message to express where Americans stand on the protection of wild horses and burros. Facebook and Twitter are also excellent ways to communicate with your Congressperson and Senators.
4. Organize Fellow Constituents
You can download a letter for your friends, family, and co-workers to sign. When you meet with your federal representatives, you'll represent more than just yourself. Perhaps some friends or fellow horse lovers will join you at the meeting! Additional sign-on pages can be found here.
5. Send a Letter to the Editor
This is a great way to spread the word about the plight of wild horses and burros and the need to speak out for their protection.
6. Volunteer with a Local Group
There are many wild horse advocacy groups throughout the country that need hands-on support! Find a group near you.

8. Donate to Support AWHC's Fight
The threat of mass killing and slaughter of these cherished animals, both on the range and in government holding facilities, looms large. But the political support, important legal precedents, and strong grassroots base we've established provide a strong foundation for the fight ahead. It's a fight we can't afford to lose and one we know we can win if we continue to work together. Donate here.
