Return to Freedom: Wild Horse Rangers Events - Summer 2014
The Wild Horse Rangers are hosting a series of events this summer, offering a unique opportunity to engage with wild horse advocacy. Participants can witness roundups, visit Capitol Hill, and attend the Wild Horse Faire in Virginia City, Nevada. Join us to learn, advocate, and celebrate the spirit of wild horses.
What is a Wild Horse Ranger?
Wild Horse Rangers: Advocacy in Action is an initiative encouraging involvement in government to benefit wild horses. Participants can visit wild horses on the range, observe government roundups, and advocate in Washington D.C. with guidance from Return to Freedom and other organizations.

Round Ups Announced
Summer Horse and Burro Roundups: Be a Witness
The Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge will conduct a roundup of 70 burros from July 14th-18th. Join Return to Freedom founder Neda DeMayo and coalition partners as humane observers. Reservations are required; contact Megan Nagel at (503) 321-6123.
Camping at Sheldon
Camping is available at designated areas on a first-come, first-served basis. Virgin Valley campground offers amenities like pit toilets and a warm springs pool. Backpacking permits are required for certain areas.
Approximately 420 horses will be gathered in August 2014 at Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge. A roundup in Utah is also expected in July.
Participants are responsible for their travel, accommodations, and food. Return to Freedom accepts no liability. Call (805) 737-9246 to register.
Wild Horse Rangers Gathering on Capitol Hill
Travel to Washington, D.C., to learn about the political process and advocate for wild horses. Meet with Return to Freedom staff and ASPCA lobbyists to understand how to protect wild horses.

When: July 29th, 2014
Requirements: Minors must be accompanied by a guardian. Participants must arrange their own transportation and lodging.

Wild Horse Faire and Herd Observation
When: August 23-24, 2014
Where: Virginia City, NV
Join the 1st annual Wild Horse Faire to support Nevada's wild horses. Enjoy a parade, concert, fair, and more. On August 24th, observe wild horse bands in their natural habitat.
- 9:00am Start
- 10:00am Pancake breakfast
- 12:00pm Parade
- 2:00pm Animal demonstrations
- 4:30pm Concert featuring Lacey Dalton
Participants must provide their own transportation and lodging.
