Protecting America's Wild Horses from Government Mismanagement
Wild horses, iconic symbols of American freedom, face threats from government mismanagement. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is currently conducting roundups of 1,400 mustangs in Oregon, using helicopters to clear land for livestock grazing. This practice has drawn criticism for prioritizing livestock over the preservation of wild horses.
The BLM has also been exposed for illegally selling 1,800 federally protected wild horses for slaughter in Mexico. This revelation has sparked outrage among conservationists and the public alike.
Annually, nearly $80 million in taxpayer funds are allocated to a federal program that confines as many wild horses in holding facilities as remain free in the wild. Despite recommendations from the National Academy of Sciences to use a proven birth control vaccine, the BLM continues to rely on inhumane roundups.
All Americans should be concerned about this government abuse. Instead of more horror stories about horse slaughter, we need the BLM to implement humane and scientific solutions that preserve America's wild horses for future generations. Learn more at: www.WildHorsePreservation.org.
