Motorcyclist Tragically Killed in Collision with Wild Horse in Nevada
In a tragic incident on U.S. 50 in Silver Springs, Nevada, a motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a wild horse. The accident underscores the dangers posed by wildlife on highways, particularly in areas where wild horses roam freely.
A motorcyclist who crashed into a wild horse in Nevada was killed when he was thrown into oncoming traffic and run over.
The motorcyclist, a man whose name has not been released, was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson westbound on U.S. 50 in Silver Springs just after 8 p.m. Wednesday when he struck a wild horse standing on the highway, the Nevada Highway Patrol said Thursday in a press release.
The man was ejected from his motorcycle into an unlit eastbound lane, where three vehicles driving eastbound hit the ejected driver, NHP said.
The horse was injured in the wreck and put down, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Dave Gibson said.
"The drivers of the vehicles did not see the accident occur or see the rider in the travel lane," the press release said. "They were unable to avoid striking the rider in the roadway."
All three drivers stopped to assist, NHP says.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
