Deer Run Horses: United Community Effort at BLM AuctionDeer Run Horses: United Community Effort at BLM Auction

On March 23, 2013, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) organized an auction-adoption event for the Deer Run horses. This event was significant as it showcased the community's determination to keep the herd intact and relocate them to a sanctuary in northern California.

On this day, the BLM brought the Deer Run horses to the auction-adoption. The two mares who foaled at the BLM holding facility at the Carson City prison stayed behind.

The BLM held a silent auction-adoption for each of the horses. The community was unanimous in the desire to keep the herd together and send them to a sanctuary in northern California. American Wild Horse Conservation (formerly American Wild Horse Campaign)'s Deniz Bolbol submitted her bid for the horses. AWHC was the only bidder - the community was united in its plan for this family to stay together.
