Livestock Land Abuse Rampant on Public Rangelands
While the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is focused on alleged wild horse "overpopulation," livestock continue to overrun and destroy the public rangelands.
Recently, the BLM National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board recommended the mass killing of up to 45,000 wild horses in holding. To justify this appalling recommendation, the board claimed an emergency need to remove thousands more wild horses from the wild because of the damage they were doing to the range.
This report makes clear that the hyper-focus on wild horses is misplaced and that this highly popular and federally-protected species is being scapegoated in order to shift public attention away from the true cause of rangeland damage - livestock.
