House Panel Approves Resolution on Wild Horse Population
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming House Agriculture Committee has endorsed a resolution urging Congress to address the overpopulation of wild horses in Wyoming and other western states. This resolution, passed unanimously by the committee, now advances to the full House for debate.
Currently, approximately 3,000 wild horses roam Wyoming's federal lands. However, some landowners argue that the wild horse population is excessive, straining available food resources and causing damage to ranch operations.
The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for managing these wild horse herds but has struggled to keep pace with the growing numbers.
The proposed resolution has garnered support from Wyoming's farming and ranching organizations, highlighting the widespread concern over the issue.
