Couple and Baby Horse Rescued from Salt River
MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - A couple's brave attempt to rescue a foal from the Salt River turned into a dramatic rescue operation. The couple, Ryan and Bren Schultz, found themselves in need of help after entering the river near the Coon Bluff Campground in Mesa.
The Salt River Wild Horse Management Group reported that the river's strong currents trapped the couple in the water. Fortunately, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office responded promptly to the situation.
Using a rope line to prevent them from being swept away, deputies on a boat successfully rescued Ryan, Bren, and the foal. Despite the cold, the couple is expected to recover fully.
In a heartwarming conclusion, the foal was reunited with its mother. The Salt River Wild Horse Management Group plans to check on the foal the following morning. If the foal thrives, it will be named Clint, in honor of the deputy who led the rescue mission.
