Contraceptive Method: A Humane Alternative to Wild Horse Roundups
Nevada faces a management challenge, not an overpopulation problem, with its wild horses. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has failed to implement the PZP contraceptive vaccine, a cost-efficient and humane alternative to the federal wild horse and burro roundup program.
PZP has been used for over 25 years across various wildlife species, including wild horses. It is safe, reversible, and minimally impacts behavior, as it does not interfere with the animal's hormonal systems. PZP represents the best available option for the humane management of wildlife species like wild horses, who live under unnatural conditions where populations do not self-regulate.
Would you prefer the safe and effective PZP vaccine or the harsh helicopter roundups that traumatize and terrorize wild horses, depriving them of their freedom and family? This is the choice we face today.
