AZ Congresswoman Takes a Stand for America's Wild Horses
U.S. Rep. Martha McSally, a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and the first American woman to fly in combat, is not only a military hero but also a champion for wild horses. Recently, she has taken a significant step to protect these majestic animals.
Last week, Rep. McSally urged the House Interior Appropriations Committee to include language that would prevent the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) from transferring captured wild horses to other federal, state, and local agencies. This move aims to close a potential loophole that could lead to the slaughter of these federally protected animals.
The BLM has requested Congress to allow the agency to strip wild horses of their protected legal status before handing them over to other government bodies. This could circumvent the current Congressional ban on selling wild horses for slaughter.
Please take a moment to thank Rep. McSally by calling her office and expressing your appreciation for her efforts to ensure that federally protected wild horses are not slaughtered.
