Artist and Winery Collaborate to Support Wild Horse Conservation
In a unique collaboration, artist Donna Bernstein and Morse Wines have joined forces to raise awareness and funds for the conservation of America's wild horses. Through the creation of art and wine, they aim to support Return to Freedom's American Wild Horse Sanctuary.
About the Collaboration
When artist Donna Bernstein painted Into the Light, she was inspired by the plight of America's wild horses. This painting led to a partnership with Morse Wines, based in Fiddletown, CA, and Return to Freedom's American Wild Horse Sanctuary.
Donna Bernstein is a contemporary equine artist whose work is celebrated worldwide. Her art captures the essence of horses, expressing their energy and spirit. She states, "I have learned it is not horses that I paint; I paint how they make me feel. Into the Light expresses the magnificent energy of our American Mustang, and I am honored to join with Morse Wines in supporting Return to Freedom on their behalf."
Morse Wines' Contribution
Morse Wines has created the "Horseplay" Collection, featuring a label designed by Bernstein. The collection includes a blend of Sierra Foothills estate-grown grape varietals: Mourvedre, Barbera, and Montepulciano. Rob Morse of Morse Wines commented, "The inspiration of a cause that stirs one's soul, paired with the creation of beautiful art and wine, have inspired our 'Horseplay' Collection. We are thankful for the opportunity to contribute 15% of the proceeds of this wine to Return to Freedom."
About Return to Freedom
Return to Freedom is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving America's wild horses through sanctuary, conservation, education, and advocacy. Founded in 1997, it operates a 300-acre ranch in California and cares for nearly 400 horses.
Upcoming Event
The Horseplay label will be released on May 3rd, 2014, at the Return to Freedom sanctuary during their annual benefit. Guests will have the opportunity to taste the vintage and bid on the original painting, Into the Light, in a silent auction.
Return to Freedom Founder Neda DeMayo remarked, "Every year in the spring, we release our herds from their winter holding paddocks. It is a celebratory and magical event that honors freedom, playfulness, and community. The release of the Horseplay label is a great compliment to our event and the perfect way to highlight the collaboration between Return to Freedom, Morse Wines, and Donna Bernstein."
